Start working in a recording studio today!

I’ve been looking around at the current options for me to get a job in a local recording studio. Something I’ve always wanted to do is learn he process of recording music. I think it would be cool to be a part of the creation process with a big band or artist on their newest project. I took a look around to see what was out there for getting technical training in the recording industry. Here’s what I found.

Full Sail is just your typical college specializing in technical training. You pay a lot of money to work towards a degree that a recording studio looking to hire you cares nothing about. Listen, I already went to college, it did nothing for me in regards to getting me work. I had to work my way up the ladder like everyone else and my college experience and degree meant nothing to employers. I don’t need to pay another $60K just to do it all over again.

Los Angeles Recording School is located in Hollywood, California. Although their website is super fancy, they are just another average college where you have to take general curriculum along with your audio engineering classes on-site. They claim you get to train in their “world class” recording studios, however, thousands of other students are also using these studios to train in. Also, these are just studios that the recording school built on their campus. This isn’t a real recording studio where you work with famous acts to record their albums. Moving on.

There’s some others out there, but it’s the same story, you have to pay for classes you don’t want to take to obtain a meaningless degree, you are learning in a classroom and not in the real world, the school does nothing to help you get work because they have no industry connections, etc. Then I found MAPPS.

MAPPS is a school that specializes in the technical and real world training of audio engineering and music producing. They offer online training along with intern experience inside a real recording studio that is currently working with big artists in the industry. There are no general curriculum classes that you’re forced to take and pay for. There’s no classroom you’re forced to attend. This automatically caught my interest because instead of going to a technical trade school to learn audio engineering and then having the task of finding work after graduation, I could attend MAPPS where I would be training in the actual recording studio I was hoping to obtain work at. This is genius and is exactly what I was looking for. Had I known about this type of program all this time, I’d be halfway done by now and might even be working in a studio today.

So, to wrap things up, if you’re interested in getting into a training program for audio engineering or music production, I recommend MAPPS. This is an excellent option to look closely at before making your decision on a school to attend and in my opinion, it’s the best option. MAPPS cuts out all the bull. They don’t charge a huge tuition that pays for classes you don’t want to take. It’s about getting you into the recording studio and training you while you’re there. This is the new form education is taking on, this is the future.
